You read that right. Since today is Samm's birthday, I 've decided to do a Friday with Samantha post instead of Friday with Clover.
Can someone please tell me how we went from celebrating her second birthday to celebrating her 24th so quickly?! Where does the time go?
I finished a pair of socks...
...and started another:
I'm saving my pennies so that I can buy my own souvenier next year.
2010 Sedalia or Bust! Right Marianne?
More birthday goodies from Patti and Roger:
Wait, I'm not done yet. Even more birthday goodies arrived in the mail on Friday. This package came from the sweet, sweet Gina.
Thank you all so much - you're all too good to me!
I received one more goodie package in the mail on Saturday - this one wasn't a gift; it was my May Spunky Club fiber:
I have just a couple more photos to share with you before I end for today:
Samm at about 5 months old and Clover at 4 months old.
The Goofy Bird was Samm's first Easter basket animal.
Check out the long piece of hair on the top of Samm's head; she was born with that long piece and a little pony tail type of piece on the back. We called her our Punk Baby. "The Piece" came in handy when we wanted to put a bow in her hair.
Yes, we do still have "The Piece". It was a sad day when we had to cut it.
What do these all have in common? This is what:
Pattern: River Valley Socks by Anni Design
Yarn: Tofutsies, color 793
Needles: Crystal Palace size 2 dpn
This one pair of socks fills the June requirements for three Knit Alongs; Sockamania, SAM3, and Holiday Headstart. Whew! I finished them just in time. (I just have to weave in the ends on one sock)
Seeing as it's Saturday, here's my Saturday Sky:
Don't forget to enter the contest; you have until midnight tonight.
Now, I'm going to go float in the pool; have a wonderful day!
Here's a picture of what I woke up to this morning:
Hubby had to force the door open to get inside to get the snow brush and ice scraper:
Hmmm, where am I while they're all out there shovelling? Inside staying warm, of course.
I finally finished my Dad's birthday socks this morning. His birthday was Thursday, but he was busy then anyway so it's okay that I didn't finish until today. He loves thems (good thing considering all the grief they caused me).
Details: Yarn: Regia Bamboo color #10604
Pattern: Top down stockinette over 64 stitches on size 2 dpn's
I managed to put the right zipper in my Big Balls sweater on Thursday night. It's not perfect, but it's a good as I can do. I love this sweater!
I don't, however, love having my picture taken. What a stupid look I have on my face. Just look at the sweater, okay.
Details: Yarn: Spunky Eclectric's Chunky Big Ball Sweater Yarn in the Vineyard colorway.
Needles: size 10 addi turbos
Pattern: Chunky Everyday Cardi by Amy King
It feels really good to have two more projects off the needles! Perhaps the Faina's scarf will see the light of day again. That might be nice since I'm supposed to be doing this as part of a knit along. I think I'll work on it for a while today and maybe start a baby sweater tonight for some mindless knitting. Faina takes complete concentration so she can't go to work with me tomorrow. I'd totally screw it up if I got interrupted in the middle of a row.
I've got a couple other pictures for you:
Aren't they cute? Rico really does love that little t-shirt. He'll walk around all day in it. Cindy wants to know why she doesn't get a t-shirt (or maybe she's wondering what's wrong with Rico that he likes wear t-shirts, especially peach colored t-shirts).
Sock Madness began yesterday morning. I printed my pattern, and after making a quick trip to go tan, I sat down and got to work. I made some pretty good progress, getting past the heel (my first short row heel) and got a repeat or two of the foot done before feeling like I need to lay down for a quick nap. It was 4:00 and I thought I'd sleep for an hour or so; I woke up at 7:30! Lost quite a bit of time there. I checked the Flickr site and saw that a couple people had already completed their pair! Holy Cow, Batman; how can I compete with that? I plugged away for a while after eating dinner and stopped to go to bed before beginning the toe. I had to get up this morning to work at the gym; normally I get up at 4:30, so with the time change, it was like getting up at 3:30! While at work at the gym, I finished the first sock and started the ribbing on the second one. I just can't seem to get moving on the second sock like I did the first one. Here's what I've finished so far:
As you can see, I haven't done much on the second sock. Even though the competition is called Sock Madness, I don't think we are supposed to drive ourselves completely mad to get the socks done; so I decided to take another break and post here and then I'm going to read some blogs and eat dinner before starting back in on this second sock. I can't be the only one who needs a break, can I? Hopefully, there will be enough other people who needed to take a break that I won't be eliminated.
Friday morning I finished the knitting on the Big Ball sweater and soaked it and put it on the blocking board Friday night. I think I'm in love. I can't wait to wear it, but first I need to put in the zipper. Yes, I decided to go for it and put in a zipper. Hopefully, I won't ruin the sweater. Here's a picture of it still sitting on the board. It's not the best picture, but there really isn't very good light in the room where I keep the board (away from curious kitty cats). The picture in my last post shows the colors better.
This was a really quick knit and I think I see another one in my future. The pattern is Amy's Everyday Chunky Cardi; yarn is her Chunky Big Ball Sweater Yarn.
Samm's been busy lately, too. Last weekend while Chris and I were in Boston, she was busy taking out her dreadlocks. Actually, she started taking them out the previous Wednesday and finished on Saturday night. She called me in Boston Sunday morning to tell me she had finisihed. She went to have it styled Sunday afternoon. I was so anxious to get home Monday to see just how short she had to have it cut. I was really surprised when I saw her; it's no where near as short as I expected. Here are a couple pictures; you can't really see the style very well because the kittys are blocking it, but you can see how healthy it looks!
Samm and Moogie
Samm and Rico (doesn't he look dapper in his shirt?)
That's not all she's been up to; she made another watch. This one for my sister, her favorite aunt :) Isn't it pretty. She does really nice work.
Well, my brain is kind of fried, so I'm going to end here and go get something together for dinner. Then it's back to more sock madness!
