Show and Tell

As I told you yesterday, I received a couple of packages in the mail this past weekend and they're just so good that I have to share them with you.

I won one of the daily prizes from Barbara Bretton over at Romancing the Yarn.  Check out how generous she was:

Included in the package were her book, Just Desserts, (which will be my next pool read), a skein of Noro Silver Thaw. and 2 magnets of her bookcover for Casting Spells.  Thank You, Barbara!

April's kitty, Andy, needed some vet care and to help cover the costs of that care, April is selling some of her wonderful stash.  It looks like she still has more, so go check it out here (Ravelry link).  I purchased a skein of Lorna's Lace's Shephard Worsted (It's much more red than this picture shows). 

 When I opened the pacakage, there was a little surprise in there; a pattern from Blue Sky Alpaca called One Fish, Two Fish.  I can't imagine why she'd think I'd like that ;-)

I also promised to show you what else followed me home from Amy's yesterday.  It really wasn't all that much.  I couldn't leave without a little bit of fiber, now could I?      This is 4 ounces of Merino/silk in the Neapolitan colorway.

And since Alice is going to be spending some time with Patti, I really had to get her some fiber too.

Out From the Darkness

I have spent the majority of the last two days in a darkened room trying to recover from a migraine.  Whew, I haven't had a big one like this in quite a while and hopefully, I won't again for a good long time!  Just a little residual headache right now, but oh so much better.

As if that weren't bad enough, I pulled a muscle in my neck/back/shoulder early yesterday.  Would you like to know how?  Sure you would; it'll be good for a laugh.  I was in bed (resting - get your minds out of the gutter) when I tried to turn over and pull the covers up at the same time.  Guess I'm too old to do that; you'd think I turned 88 instead of 48 the other day!  Sheesh.

Moving along.

I told you I've been on a lucky streak, winning a few contests recently.  Take a look at my winnings:

"Good Harbor Sock"  in the Can-Do colorway from Sereknity. I had purchased one skein a while ago and then won the second when donating to Ericka's MS fundraising efforts. Heather was nice enough to trade out the one I had and give me 2 in the same dye lot.  I have a few ideas for this, but haven't made any decisions.

This next prize was won by not guessing the name of Marcia's new grandson.       
Yep, you heard that right.  I didn't guess the right name, but neither did anyone else, so my name was randomly drawn to win this great book.



There's more.  I participated in a challenge in the LessW8in08 group organized by Mary.  Participants were divided into 4 teams and awarded points for eating fruits/veggies and also points for exercise.  There were enough prizes donated that some were awarded randomly during the 6 week challenge.
I won another skein of Can-Do sock yarn in one of those drawings.  This skein is in superwash merino and I do believe it will become a hat and mittens for Clover for next winter.  The team I was on came in first place, and that meant yet another prize. 
This is 490 yards of 100% wool from Storyteller's Yarn  in the colorwary "A Touch of Spice" donated by Jessica.

I told you I've been lucky; perhaps I should take Marianne's advice and buy a lottery ticket (hubby has been buying them every week, maybe I'll buy this week's).

I'm having fun reading all your guesses as to when Clover will arrive.  Samm's hoping that most of you are wrong - hardly anyone has guessed that she'll go early.  As you can imagine, she'd like Clover to come early rather than late :-)

Okay, on with the prizes.  As I said yesterday, there will be three prizes.  I'll let the person who wins the "guess the date" portion of the contest pick which prize he/she would like; the person who comes closest on the weight will get second choice, and the person picked at random will get the final prize.
