My friend, Mel, is having a raffle to help raise money for the No on 1 campaign. He's even raffling off a pair of socks, handknit especially for the winner by him. David, his husband, is offering up a pair of RedMaple Sportswear socks to keep the winner's feet warm while Mel knits the prize socks.
Please go read his post here for more details and then go make a donation if you are able.
As Mel says, this is going to be a close race, so I'm going to sweeten the pot a little. Everyone who donates any amount and comes back here to let me know (even if you've already entered Mel's raffle) will be eligible to win one of two prizes.
What are those prizes?
Gale's Art, 4 ounces BFL in the colorway "Crayon Box"
or
A 2007 club installment of BMFA Socks that Rock, 4.5 ounces, 360 yards, coloryway "Lenore", complete with the key chain with mini skein, dyers notes, and pattern "Lenore" by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee
One final word - if you live in Maine, be sure to VOTE NO ON 1 ON NOVEMBER 3rd!!!!
Hooray! Thank you!

Yay, you! It's so good to see people stepping up on this, but I sure do wish we lived in a world where it wasn't needed.

I just donated and let Mel know. This "people's veto" thing makes me crazy that some whackos can bring the question up for a vote then groups with lots of money put fear and doubt into voter's minds.

Well, hey... just catching up with some blog reading (I am SO behind)... I donated before Mel's raffle, and then after he announced it... so count me in? Here's hoping we keep the law we voted in!
