Example:

This is the beginning of Clover's Christmas dress.
Even though I measured her little chest at 19" and the dress is supposed to be close fitting, the more I knit the more nervous I got. So, once I finished the bodice last night, I put it on some scrap yarn and measured it:

That's close!
Now I know it'll grow a little with blocking, but I was still too nervous to go on so I put it aside until I could try it on her.
I was able to do that when I went home for lunch today and all I can say is -
That child is a peanut!
The dress fits her perfectly so far. Phew!
Pattern: Oriental Lily (with some mods)
Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash
Needles: Size 6
And an adorable peanut at that! :)

Cute and pray she doesn't grow appreciably between now and Christmas.

That is adorable! Just tell Clover not to grow any in the next three months so it'll fit her.

I know the feeling. Somehow things always seem too small when I'm working on them but they fit the recipient perfectly. Thank goodness it's not the reverse.

I can never size-up kids. I'm always way off. And yet I still seem to think I can "eyeball" it every time I knit a kiddie thingie. I'm insane...
That is going to be an adorable dress and the perfect Clover Color!
