Monogamy in knitting, that is. Especially when said monogamous knitting is a plain ole stockinette stitch sock.
Hubby told me back in January that "if I wanted to, I could make him some more socks". I took that to mean "I'd love it if you would make me some more socks." That's exactly what he meant, but I was in the middle of a few things at the time so I told him that yes, I'd be happy to make him socks (he doesn't ask for much and he really does love his hand knit socks) but that they'd have to wait until I finished the projects I had going on at the time. I started the first one in January and worked a little on it here and there (key words being "a little").
Finally, I finished the first sock the other day.
Check this out - I worked my first afterthought heel (which is really just another toe where the heel goes).
I was a little unsure how hubby would like the feel of the "toe-heel", but he really likes it and I really enjoyed doing it. I love how the striping pattern doesn't get interrupted.
Great socks - you can finish in no time! And I know what you mean about project monogamy. I like to have 2-3 things going at once just to keep from getting bored. If it's more than that, though, I feel like nothing gets done.

I will say this about man socks -- usually, all they want is plain stockinette. Yes, it's boring, but think about how long those socks would take if you had a complicated stitch pattern to pay attention to. I do like how your sock striped up. I would think waiting to get to the next stripe might make it a little faster, too.

Yup, no project monogamy here. I work best when I can alternate between stuff. Besides, that way I'm always surprised to have a thing or two finished.

I love stockinette in the round. Love love love. :)
The name may be lame, but it's a cool colorway.

no monogamy here either. socks in the go bag for waiting times (meetings, boy karate) and something (or 2) a little more interesting at home
the afterthought heel looks really nice! good job

That's a great sock. I'm glad your husband likes the afterthought heel. They are my favorite for striped yarn.

I did one sock with an afterthought heel, loved it then promptly forgot to do the second. Now I fear I won't remember where to put it on the second one! I should really go back to that.
Maybe it's the monogamy part that is putting me off? So many other things to not finish knitting...

You're a better woman than I. Mansocks. I do know what you mean, our guys, they're good guys, they don't ask for much (Bobby doesn't wear sweaters, vests, hats or gloves) but he hasn't asked for more socks lately... he will. at some point.
Great sock there!
