I took a vacation day from work today because who wants to go to work on a Monday when you have a holiday on Tuesday? My plan was to spend a lazy day around the house and knit and relax. I woke up this morning to about 6 or 7 inches of snow outside and no power inside.

Looks like a beautiful winter wonderland, doesn't it? Well I'm here to tell you that it's not so beautiful when you're shoveling it! I spent a couple of hours outside shoveling this crap snow. Shoveling heavy snow causes a person to work up quite a sweat; a nice hot shower is just the thing you need after a couple of hours of shoveling. Of course, no power means no hot water and no heat, so I had to change out of my sweaty clothes and sit around the house freezing and stinking. What a fun way to spend a vacation day; I just know you are all jealous.
Actually, it wasn't too bad; the power came on about 45 minutes after I came in from shoveling - just as I was taking this picture of Samm and Clover all bundled up.
Clover never had a chance of getting cold; she has on a long sleeve onesie, a pair of pants, a nightgown, mittens, socks, booties, a hat, and her little snowsuit. If anything, I think she was probably HOT! She sure was snuggly in that soft snowsuit though :-)
Once the power came on, and after a shower, Samm and I decided to take Clover out shopping. The weather had actually turned pretty nice by then and the roads looked good, so we decided to take a trip to Babys R Us. Clover decided she wanted to wear the new jeans her Daddy bought for her, so her Mommy dressed her up like one of the cool kids:
put on her high top sneakers
(booties crocheted by Colleen)
and she was ready to go!
Isn't she a cuter model than Tina?
A couple hours after we returned home from shopping, we lost cable t.v., interenet, and telephone for several hours (actually, we still have no t.v.). But you know what - a day at home without power, tv, internet, and phone is still better than a day at work!
And now, in keeping with my New Year's Eve tradition, I'm going to go to bed before midnight.
Goodnight.
Wow, what an adventurous day! Just think how nice it was to not have to try to get to work in that snow... Happy New Year!

Love the snow suits- they make babies so smooshie snuggly. and the sneakers are perfect with her big girl outfit, if I do say so myself!

Well, I have to admit that I LOVE the snow pictures, but that is probably only because we never get any snow. Life without power sucks so bad, glad it was only for a little while. Happy New Year to you and your family. And Tina could never hold a candle to little Miss Thing.

WAY better than Tina! Clover looks so big until there's a photo of her with an adult's hands nearby. We only got~10", though it looked like 12. And it's doing it again right now!

Beautiful Child
Too bad you did not have tv. The Beverly Hillbillys had a marathon on tv land. So funny!

Funny post Noolie. I'm so glad you got your power back on quickly and were able to enjoy a hot shower after shoveling.
Clover looked precious in her Nonni-Mommy-Baby outing gear! Considering you shoveled your way of the driveway, I hope you found something fun at the store for you too.
