It turns out that it was a blessing in disguise that the Baby Kimono was too small. I'm loving the new sweater; the yarn looks so much better in stockinette stitch than it does in garter. Here is Tina* modeling my progress so far:
and a close up of the yarn:
The yarn is Plymouth's Jelli Beez; it's an acrylic/wool blend. Pattern is Knitting Pure and Simple's Baby Tunic.
*I've named her Tina because I'm evil; both my hubby and Samantha are freaked out by dolls. I believe hubby's aversion to dolls comes from the Talking Tina episode of The Twilight Zone, hence the name Tina. See, evil - bwahahahaha
Donations are at 33% of my overall goal! There are just under 4 weeks to go; can we do it?
Also, I said that I'd draw the first prize and add another one once we hit $500 and we are just $10 away from that! So, if you've been thinking about donating, now's the time to do it. Any help you can give will be much appreciated!
It's Labor Day here in the United States today which means a day off work for most (unfortunately, retailers don't generally observe this holiday except as a means to make more money by having sales; hubby is a programmer for a retailer so he is at work today). For me, it means an extension of my vacation. The weather today is supposed to be my idea of perfect, sunny with temps around 84 degrees F. I'll celebrate the holiday in the best way I know how; a bit of knitting, a bit of spinning, and quite a bit of floating in the pool. I hope you all have a great day, too!
I can't think of a better way to spend Labor Day. The Tunic is very cute, Tina is a little creepy, though.

I'm reading a book right now with some creepy dolls wandering around in it and they reference that Twilight Zone episode! I find it hard to be afraid or your little Tina, though. She looks so darned cute in her little sweater!
Happy Floating and Basking!

Aww...I think Tina is kinda pretty...little cupid-bow mouth, but those eye brows..hmmmm.
Happy holiday to you!

I agree with the husband, doll's are creepy. I always tried to hide the ones I was given as a kid. And I HATED Barbie.

I was not big on baby dolls or Barbie, myself, and I agree with Amy that your Tina is a little creepy. However, she is obviously a handy and willing model, so that's a plus. Hmm, must find a copy of that Twilight Zone episode somewhere.

Tina does have a look that reminds me a bit of Arnold in total recall or something!

Julie, I hate to say it...but that doll is really freaky. Does she give you the heebie jeebies at night? Whatever you do, don't leave her alone with your metal knitting needles. EEEEEEEK!!!!

she's not too bad... one of the playgroup girls has one that spontaniously (sp) talks.. that's freaky.
awesome weather here too! happy Labor Day!

The tunic is beautiful, Julie, and I was sorry to read about your kimono. Tina is too funny (as is your husband's and Sam's aversion to dolls). I DARE YOU to place Tina under your husband's pillow one night. (But then, you might not survive to blog another day, so just skip that idea).

OMg.. that was too funny to pull up your blog and see that picture.. but what a good idea!
Knit on :)

Tina scares me and I've never seen that episode of the Twilight Zone!

I'm a little freaked out by Tina too, but it is good to know if you're knits will fit the unborn child!

With that doll, all of your baby items are going to be the perfect fit. Although, her face creeps me out so I'd probably pull off her head.. bwah ha ha ha!

Looks great! Don't let my Neatnik see it, though. Otherwise, she'll be badgering me to knit a wardobe for her Jacqueline.

The sweater looks great. You are right the pattern really shows off the colors of the yarn. So sweet. =-D
