Yesterday I said that I thought Spring was finally coming to Maine. WRONG! Today was a lovely, sunny, relatively warm day. The forecast for the rest of the week, not so much. For crying out loud, it's April. I kept waiting for the weather man to laugh and say "April Fools", but it never happened. Oh well, that's Spring in Maine.
If you ever get the opportunity to see Loretta Laroche, you really have to do it. But be warned, you want to make sure you use the bathroom right before the show starts; if you don't, you are sure to pee your pants from laughing so hard. She is absolutely hysterical. Hubby and I went to the Music Hall in Portsmouth last night to see her. This is the second time we;ve seen her and I'm telling you, we have never laughed so much as we did at her shows. My face still hurts today.
I promised you some knitting content and that's what you're getting (like it or not).
First up, my Holiday Headstart project, a set of felted stackable bowls:
These were based on the pattern in One Skein. I adjusted the needle size and yarn weight for the small one and knit the bigger ones longer than the pattern called for so that I could roll the top down. I'm very pleased with how they came out. Look, they actually even fit inside each other!
I haven't decided who is getting these; I have a couple people in mind. I definitely plan to make more of these bowls, in different sizes and shapes. This book is a great little book; I've made a few of the patterns already and plan to make a few more in the future.
I finished another Dulaan hat on Thursday.
I used one strand of Lamb's Pride worsted weight in pink and one strand of purple Knit Picks Wool of the Andes held together on size 11 needles. Another very quick knit.
This is another Dulaan knit. I received a box of "Avalanche" yarn from Ryan on Friday and cast on for the Avalanche Vest Friday night. I finished it (except for buttons) around 2:00 yesterday afternoon. It'd have been done even sooner if I didn't have to knit, rip, knit and rip the button band and the edges of the armholes. I just couldn't seem to pick up the right number of stitches to make it lay flat. I ended up getting out a size K crochet hook and doing a row of single crochet around the armholes and 2 rows on the buttonband. I finished off the button band with a row of slip stitches to give it a more finished look. Now, I just need to find some appropriate buttons and I can call it an FO. You'll be seeing some more Dulann knits made from the Avalanche yarn; Ryan sent me 9 skeins and this used about 3 1/2.
I didn't get a whole lot of knitting done today. I went to work from 6-12 then came home and (sit down, Missa Louise) did laundry and dishes and other domestic type things all day. I'm beat; I'm not used to that! The only knitting I did was this Rainbow Ripple sock I started as a gift (can't tell you for who as she might read this). I got the leg and 1/2 the heel flap done.
I'm using Lorna's Shepard Sock on size 2 Crystal Palace dpn's.
Now, I think I'm going to just sit back and knit for a little while then go to bed.
Goodnight.
The bowls are great. I was felting obsessed last summer and made a bunch of them for gifts last year. And the Dulaan vest is excellent - I think I saw something similar on another blog. I wonder who else has been knitting Dulaan vests?!

Oh..and the weather..reminds me of being at Thomas College in April, just brought home all my winter things during vacation...upon return we had knee high snow, and no winter clothes! brrrr

All the knitting looks great! I'm just in awe of how much you get accomplished!
I hope it warms up into Spring for you soon!

The nesting bowls are wonderful - so clever! And you're going to hit some sort of Dulaan target all by yourself, I swear. :)

Wow, wow, wow!!! The bowls are SO cool! I've always wanted to try them. I can't believe that they really fit together!
Hat is super and I love the vest!
I know...I'm so sick of rain, too....drip, drip, drip.....

Noooooooo -- do not even mention the S word. I will cry, I swear. I live with a crazy man who will ride his bike at about 30ish degrees, and I refuse to go out until it's warmer. Any day now, I keep saying, but the weatherman is making me a liar.
You must be using the turbo needles to knit so fast! The felted bowls are going to make a great gift, and the Dulaan knits will be much appreciated. You need to knit something for you now!
Thanks for the Marsha photo! More kitties please!

Domestic chores - YOU! Is Chris on strike?

Wow, those are a lot of knits! I like the bowls a lot, that's a really neat gift idea. Sorry about the weather change. Mother Nature is certainly fickle.

Yup, we've got the same here, cold, rainy and gross. I love the bowls.

Yeah, boy...that's about identical to our weather forecast. My daughter, who is smack-dab in the middle of the State of New York (near Utica/Syracuse area) said they had powerful thunderstorms this morning.
Love your avalanche vest!

Ya...it's supposed to snow here starting tonight too. Ick.

I had the same thoughts about Spring. We're supposed to be at 75 tomorrow and 44 on Wed. EEK!

Nice, nice, nice, and nice! Glad you got Chris to put in a plug for your squares. I meant to last post, and will in the next.

Today was a super day for the truck to break down. I really enjoyed the invigorating walk in the freezing rain. So refreshing...
But the sight of the pretty knitties has warmed my heart and soul. Lovely!

I love the bowls! You are knitting like crazy!
We are about to get another cold snap here in North Carolina too! I already planted tomatoes! I'll have to go cover them up. Bah! I'm ready for spring.

Hi, Julie!
I have the "One Skein" book, and those bowls are at the top of my list of things to make from it. Your outcome on these is more of a reason to do it!
This weather is awful! I guess in New England we aren't allowed to have spring before June.

ohhh brrrr!
Those bowls are so clever. I may have to add that book to my Amazon wish list. Do you recommend it?
Those socks are going to be beautiful!

Wow! I love those bowls! I've been puting off buying that book but after seeing those. I'm off to Amazon.
Your socks are gorgeous. My favorite color is pink with pink and brown being my favorite color combination.
I guess I would say you have been quite an enabler to me.
