Mr. Mugatoo
(aka Moogie, Moogles, Moogaleze)
Hubby took this picture the other day and it just cracks me up.
CONTEST: There are two parts to this contest.
First part: post a caption for this picture in the comments. I know there are a lot of witty people out there, and I'm sure I'll have quite a few laughs over the captions. I doubt that I will be able to choose a favorite, so I will put the names of everyone who does this in a hat and draw a random winner for this prize:
Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles
by Cat Bordhi
Part two: Moogie goes to the vet today and will be weighed while there. For this part of the contest, leave a comment with your guess of how much you think he weighs. I will give you a hint; he's HEAVY! It is nearly impossible to hold onto Moogie; he's so big that when he is held, he's very uncomfortable. Poor Moogaleze, he needs to be on a diet. Whoever comes closest to guessing correctly, will win some Socks That Rock yarn. If there's a tie, I'll put the names of everyone who guessed correctly in a hat and draw one at random.
Fred Flinstone colorway
You can enter both parts or just one. I'll take entries until next Thursday, February 8th, and draw the winners Friday morning.
Okay, now on to the knitting.
I did finish this pair of socks on Wednesday night as I was hoping. All the time I was working on the second sock, I thought I was matching up the stripes exactly. Wrong. Check out the toes; this is what happens when you are just ONE row off. When I realized the toes were ending up different colors, I took a closer look at both socks. It seems I started the second heel flap just one row later than the first. Oh well, I guess I can't always be perfect ;-)
Yarn: On-Line Supersocke
Needles: Crystal Palace size 1 dpn
Pattern: same old, plain old, stockinette stitch, top down
As you may recall, I started this pair for Samm but they are too loose in the leg so they are going in the pile for Christmas. This brings my gifts finished total to two.
I finally started my sweater last night! I have just two rows to go before I join it and start knitting in the round. Here's a lousy picture of what I've done so far; the stitches are all squished on the needles, so it looks much smaller than it really is:
I did knit one other super top secret item the other night, but I can't show you yet. I made it for someone who reads this blog and I'll be mailing it to her tomorrow. I'll show you as soon as I'm sure she's received it. Yes, MissaLouise, it is the item we were discussing :)
Have a great day and get your entries in!

"Edith, get me a beer." And I'm guessing that he weighs 13 LBS 7 OZ. I just weighed our cat the other night and was shocked. Porker. Beautiful socks btw!

"Damn, if I can't touch my toes, Mom's for sure putting me on a diet! Toes, where are you?!!"I'm guessing 22.5 lbs. Poor kitty! Chaos has been on a diet since October and is starting to look great - but he's crabby...

"Ah, catnip."16 lbs. 5 oz.If I could get a better look at him I'd be closer. I calibrate my hands at rabbit shows and am usually within 2 oz. of the weight. lol

"If you want my body and you think I'm sexy, . . ."I don't know much about cat weights. But, I'll toss out 15.2 pounds. My 20+/- pound dogs are bigger than a cat, even a big ole fluffy one.I like faternal socks. I also like having a right and a left sock. Not that I generally shape them differently.

Keep that diet food away from me!13 pounds 5 ounces.Good luck with the weigh in. Our little dog Sunny had to lose weight and it was torture on her and us. DH required continuous nagging at first. He doesn't believe in anyone being hungry.

In the right hand corner, wearing the black and white trunks hailing from Southern Maine, weighing in at 18 lbs, the one, the only Mr. M! At the sound of the bell let's hear you purr.
Posted by: missalouise | Feb 02, 2007 at 03:14 PM
Moogie looks to me to be rapping, but since I don't know any lyrics to an appropriate rap song: "I'm too sexy for my shirt too sexy for my shirtSo sexy it hurts"I'm guessing he's 19.5lbs.
Posted by: Jeanne | Feb 02, 2007 at 06:50 PM
WOW! Socks That Rock sure brings out the delurkers now doesn't it??Caption (the first thought that came to my head) "Yo! Babe! You just gonna sit there & knit all day or are you gonna get me another cold one?"I'm guessing he weighs 20.5 pounds (although I have NO clue since I have two 70 pound golden retrievers)No biggie on the socks not matching. They look GREAT & the toes will probably be inside shoes anyway so nobody will know but you!

"Can't-Quite-Reach-It....ugh...Damn it!"And, I guess that he weighs about 21 pounds. Sweater is looking awesome!

Hmmm...at the risk of offending poor Moogie, I'm going to say 22 pounds. I think I may be over-guessing, but black is so darned slimming that it's hard to tell!
Posted by: Sheepish Annie | Feb 03, 2007 at 03:09 PM
Blogger must have been acting up on me yesterday - cause I swear I posted a comment...Caption: You'd think that damn bear would move so I could stretch out...Weight: 21 pounds (I think that's what I guessed yesterday.)

14 pounds...sorry Moogie!
Posted by: Becky | Feb 04, 2007 at 12:51 AM
"Teddy - if you would just give me a little push, I could get up"This is pretty bad since I've been thinking since your post on Friday...I had one about basking in the afterglow, but thought it might be too x-rated!I'm guessing Mr. Mugatoo is about 18 lbs.
Posted by: Pat | Feb 04, 2007 at 09:49 AM
My guess is 15.4 lbs.
Posted by: Becky | Feb 04, 2007 at 10:05 AM
Mr. Mugatoo says "Hmmmm, it's about time for a bath, grunt, grunt, ehhh never mind, I can't reach.exed"I bet he weighs 19 lbs. We used to have a cat our first year of marriage named Prince Myshkin, and we used to catch him in the act of sitting like Mr. Mugatoo in his favorite armchair, with his paw resting on the arm! When we would walk into the room, he would slowly slide back into a more catlike position as if to say "Damn, they caught me acting human again."As usual, AWESOME socks, and I can't wait to see the completed sweater!
Posted by: Bea | Feb 04, 2007 at 11:32 AM
How about 21.5 pounds? "Hey! What's all this about a bellybutton? I can't find mine in all this fur. Teddy, do YOU have one?"
Posted by: Debby | Feb 04, 2007 at 02:30 PM
Are you just stand there looking at me all day or are you gonna help me out here?My guess is 22 lbs.Gorgeous kitty!

"Where's my remote? And where's the pizza guy???"Your baby looks like he has some Maine Coon in him, just like my Mr. Mew. I'll bet he's 17 lbs even!
Posted by: Sachi | Feb 05, 2007 at 10:12 AM
Caption: *sigh* Nothing on TV... where's my soda? Where's the remote? *sigh* Life is just so hard sometimes...Weight guess: 19.4 lbs
Posted by: Just A Knit Wit | Feb 05, 2007 at 10:45 AM
Caption:"THIS is what happened the last time you took me to the vet!"He looks to be about the same size as my ex-roommate's big cat, who topped out the scale at 25 lbs, so that's what I'll guess.
Posted by: g | Feb 05, 2007 at 11:02 AM
I don't have a witty caption, but I'll guess 19 pounds. :)
Posted by: Stariel | Feb 05, 2007 at 11:54 AM

Posted by: Deenz | Feb 05, 2007 at 02:20 PM
hahaha! such a great photo! I'm guessing he weighs 17lbs, 7 oz. But I really hope it's less than that! I'm afraid one of my cats is up there... he used to be 11-12 lbs. I was surprised to learn my sister's cat (who looks fairly thin) is 16 lbs!! "Please move, I can't see the tv. oh, and would you fetch me another beer?";)
Posted by: thursday | Feb 05, 2007 at 03:01 PM
I am so not clever. I will guess his weight at 20 lbs. 6 ounces. He looks like such a love.
Posted by: Cindy | Feb 05, 2007 at 03:19 PM
Here are a couple of captions that come to mind"oh, if I could only reach that remote""can't get up""Can't believe I ate it all""oooh, life o luxury""what do YOU want?""no worries mate"And for his weight, I knew a 30 something pound cat once, so I'll say 30.75 pounds.Have fun! What great prizes!!!!

"Nyuugh . . . one! Okay, I'm done with these situps."I'm guessing he weighs 19.5

You like my beefcase pose or what? Hm. 18 pounds?
Posted by: tiphanie | Feb 06, 2007 at 12:14 AM
He looks kind of bored to me, so all I can think of is stuff like "Leave me alone, I'm trying to nap."I'll guess he's about 17.5 lbs.
